{"id":913,"date":"2013-04-28T11:15:01","date_gmt":"2013-04-28T10:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shadowcovenant.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/28\/level-design-2\/"},"modified":"2013-04-28T11:15:01","modified_gmt":"2013-04-28T10:15:01","slug":"level-design-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/shadowcovenant.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/28\/level-design-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Level design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Been working on level design this morning, I have the 6 first levels (the tutorial levels) done\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m still getting the grips with the game mechanics, trying to figure out what\u2019s hard and what\u2019s easy to do, what kind of difficulties I expect players to have, etc\u2026<\/p>\n<p>My wife\u2019s been beta-testing the levels for me, and so far the game looks fun (I lack objectivity on it, since I\u2019ve played too much already)\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shadowcovenant.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/screen09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"screen09\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"screen09\" src=\"http:\/\/shadowcovenant.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/screen09_thumb.jpg\" width=\"542\" height=\"421\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Going to add a mini-explosion to when we lose a particle\u2026 there\u2019s little feedback at the moment on it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve also been thinking about level-done conditions (more than 50% particles saved? More than 75%?), when to trigger it (if I trigger as soon as the condition is reached, there\u2019s no space for \u201cbonus points\u201d, but if not I might risk being stuck if there\u2019s a forgotten particle somewhere), and the retry system (infinite retries? Limited?
