The Evolution of PC games

06 Aug

Seen this one over at Rampant Games, thought it was awesome and wanted to share this with you guys:

The music is all made from the sound effects of the games shown! Open-mouthed smile

And we’re back!

20 Jul

Back from Germany, although buried in work…

For the next weeks I won’t be able to put much work into Grey, so the technical side will be a bit delayed… Hopefully the artist will manage to keep busy and show some new stuff!

Anyway, just to let you all know we’re still alive!

Here’s a photo of me relaxing in the Rockharz Festival, waiting for lunch to finish grilling:

We had an awesome time there! Smile Too bad we also got plenty of work as well! Disappointed smile

I know, I know…

06 Jul

…I’ve been remiss in my blog updates lately, and for that I’m terribly sorry… Disappointed smile

RealJob™ is still taking it’s toll, since one of my colleagues left (think I mentioned that), and while we can’t find a suitable replacement, I have to do both my job and his… Add that to the startup of a new project, and I’m beat…

Besides RealJob™, the refactoring task on Spellbook took all my remaining time, but the good news is that the hardest part is done now, which is awesome!

Anyway, next week I’ll be away in Germany, half for work reasons, and the other half to go to the Rockharz Festival (since I’m nearby)…

Hopefully I’ll only have one more month of overdrive, and then I’ll be able to have some vacation time and work some more on Grey

Lack of updates…

26 Jun

Sorry about the lack of updates in the blog lately, but between RealJob™ and refactoring completely Spellbook’s resource management system (check here if you want to know what I’m talking about), I haven’t had any time to update the blog, really…

The only leisure time I had lately I used to go watch “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”:

It was a nice “popcorn” movie, with some interesting ideas and merging of the Lincoln history and a fiction…

Other than that, you guys will have to wait for a bit more free time on my part… Someone in my company left, and that means that all his work falls on my shoulders, so time has been very short… Disappointed smile

Real job…

31 May

RealJob™ has been kicking my ass lately, so nothing new to report lately…

Most of my TV series are done for the time being (damn summer schedule!), so I’ve been mainly playing Diablo 3 (when the servers aren’t down… Nice going, Blizzard, you’re really pushing it), watching old movies that were pilling up in my “to-watch” list (nothing really good that warrants a recommendation) and been feeling the urge to join the masses and play Skyrim.

It’s fun that I’m thinking about playing Skyrim since I got it for Christmas… but when I think on the massive time investment I’ll have to do (60+ hours), I kind of put it on hold…

This is one of the things I feel Grey might fill a niche: short RPG experiences, where we condense the good bits into 4-8 hours of gameplay… Of course, if our plans come into fruition, the whole Grey experience will be about 40 or 50 hours, but since any episode is only 4 to 8 hours long, it seems more manageable for people with little time for games…

Anyway, work will be pretty intense for the next weeks, but hopefully I won’t be so tired and I’ll manage to get some more work done on Grey!

More Mass Effect 3 rant…

02 Apr

This guy pretty much gets it:

It’s long, but it has cool stuff in it (including Blasto references, which are always awesome)… Smile

Writing two blogs…

23 Mar

…is a lot of work… Smile

Most of the “interesting” stuff (in terms of development) goes into the Spellcaster Studios blog, while the work stuff can’t exactly be discussed (and is not that interesting, to be honest)… and I haven’t finished any games after Mass Effect 3 (still recovering from that!)…

I’ve been watching some videos of the Mists of Pandaria beta, and I’ve got to admit it looks very good visually:

I’m still not that excited about it, but the visuals are very cool, specially because it seems they wanted to really do something different of the usual MMORPG expansion…

Why is Dr. Who so awesome?

13 Feb

…Well, I don’t have any clear idea on that, but that’s the reason I didn’t work as much as I should on the weekend! Smile

I’ve started watching the new series of Dr. Who (the 2005 version), and I’ve watched 3 seasons so far, and I find it riveting; no idea why I didn’t find this so cool the times I’ve tried watching it in the past!

Anyway, my main idea on this is that the character of the Doctor is at the same time accessible and yet mysterious… We don’t know that much about him, and that keeps us glued to the screen trying to figure out who exactly he is…

Hopefully, this will be one of the drivers for Grey. Although he isn’t as accessible as the Doctor, he is very mysterious, with a past veiled even from him… I hope people will find that interesting enough to keep on playing!

Bad weekend…

06 Feb

Had a terrible weekend… my grandmother passed away on Sunday, may God have her now…

Although it wasn’t something we didn’t see coming, it always hits you hard and makes you wonder what’s the point of this all… Fortunately, my grandmother wouldn’t approve of such nonsense and would say for life to go on…

Goodbye grandmother, you will be missed…

Not much new…

02 Feb

New blog post at Spellcaster Studios, about animations…

For myself, not much to add in my life lately… Between my real job, developing Grey and getting to level 50 in Star Wars: The Old Republic, I haven’t had time for much of anything… Smile

Ah, the hard life of someone with too many hobbies, not enough time!
